Filling Station, Makati City: Bizarre diner at red light district trapped in a time warp

Haven we've found at Red Light District. It was Sunday morning after our graveyard shift when I invited my workmates to take our breakfast in Burgos, Makati. I was really planning to eat in Paris Delice(a fast-food restaurant) and try their french breads. Sadly, we went there so early and the resto was still closed. Not to waste our time instead of waiting we decided to go inside the red light district and see if there’s a great place where we can eat. I honestly went here like 4 or 5 times last year. I once ate pizza in cafe cubano with a friend. Accidentally I also met my elementary schoolmate there who happened to work as a server. Then, what I will not forget too was when I smoked shisha in pasha. It was my first time, though it was good and smelled great because of the double apple flavor I ended coughing hard the next day. I really enjoyed the turkish ambiance in pasha. Oh My! I now miss eating their dessert called baklava, the pistachio on it and the guyabano shake. While walking we stopped in a facade of a cafe. What really got my attention was when I read “Breakfast All Day” We were really looking for a heavy meal so we knew at first this answered what we need. After we checked this almost human-sized menu outside we went straight ahead this very inviting cafe bar.

Filling Station(Play, Drain, Refill) I was curious at first why the owner named it filling station, what only reminded me was pretty much it was connected to a gas station. Cakes welcomed us when we opened the glass door, we then walked through the stairs and saw different memorabilia such as old pictures and even fuel pumps. When I saw it, I somehow had an idea why it was named filling station. The cafe was located at the 2nd floor and I was petrified with what I saw. Did I ride a time machine? The place was really cool and has a retro atmosphere. I forgot that I was hungry and just continued taking pictures. It brought me back when I used to watch Pawn Stars on History Channel. I was bewitched!

Experience to be trapped in a 1950s and 1960s Time Warp. Born in 90s sadly I don't have so much information about the life in the 50s and 60s era. All my basis was just the history from the books and old movies from cable channels. This cafe gave me the memories of the past from old payphones, classic coca cola bottled softdrinks to american vintage diner. There were really a lot of things you can see from the past, statues/replicas of the King of Rock and Roll, Hollywood Actress and Actor like Marilyn Monroe and James Dean. There were also old pictures and movie prints.
                                     Ohhh My! Manilyn Monroe

Lovely Audrey Hepburn

When SuperMarkyMacky met SuperHeroes. Adolescene got me bored in watching sci-fi movies I guess because my childhood was overwhelmed with toys and power rangers. But media is powerful, sci-fi series and movies are very in now. Somehow, this brings back my childlike heart. Going back, this diner is for sure perfect for kids and adults with childlike heart like me who love superheroes. Action Figures here are a great photobomber on your selfie.

He is not a plane or a bird. He is Superman!!!

Without her there may not be a Superman? She is Wonderman!!!

Ok. So don't worry I'm just selfie-ing with you :)

Did Batman hire his new Robin?
Nothing beats my "Flash!"

Ok, rated PG (Parental Guidance)

Time to Eat. Let's have a test. We ordered their best seller pizza and four for all, platter of their 4 most famous starters: Buffalo Wings, Loaded Potato Skins, Fried Calamari and Shanghai Rolls with blue cheese dip, marinara and tartar sauce. Chocolate and Strawberry flavoured shakes on the side. As a pizza lover I consider this diner a must try. I enjoyed the four for all especially the shanghai rolls but the calamari was like a rubber, I guess it needs to fry again. Tartar sauce did not blend in all the food on the platter. Milkshakes was great! Chocolate was uhmm! Superb! I thought I was drinking a melted ice cream. All of these cost roughly Php1500 ($32) The price was in the range from average to expensive but very reasonable because of the location and the vintage-themed cafe-bar. It will not only make your stomach bloated also your eyes.

The other color of the red light district. Despite all the stereotype things I've been hearing about this place these did not stop me from entering its gate. Sad to see that prostitution still exists and I really hope it ends. Makati Avenue may be a red light for most but it has its other side. A great place to see the world! With no airline reservations, no hassle. A place to discover the cultures of different countries. There are a lot of restaurants that offer different cuisines. It's something to put on your list of great places for gastronomic experience.

Totally Filled! It was beyond my normal breakfast. Very unexpected to see in the Metro. The vintage yet classic atmosphere of this diner worked for me holistically. It will make you full from eyes, stomach to your mind. The slogan was really perfect for its name. Play from their billiards to eye popping action figures. Then Drain. Lastly, Refill with their yummy foods.
