Are you ready for the next celebration? The New Year's eve countdown! Oh my, I'm so excited to witness the celebrated Ball Drop in Times Square, amazing fireworks in Sydney, London and Downtown Dubai on Facebook Live or YouTube. Yeah, sad news I'm kind of broke right now and I can't buy airline tickets to visit these cities. I'll just stay here in Manila and eat my favorite peach refrigerator cake. No worries, let's try to achieve that next year. Hashtag fingers crossed. Hope we win the lottery and not lose the ticket, but all kidding aside, who wouldn't wanna welcome the 2019 with a bang and with their loved ones?
Moving forward, it's certainly the most wonderful time of the year. Why? Look, you see family gatherings or reunions everywhere, holiday sales and gift exchange games at work. Not only that, let's be honest, it's also somewhat the most delicious time of the year because we get to taste dishes and desserts which are not being served regularly to us at the dining table.
What are those? In my beautiful country, the Philippines, Noche Buena and Media Noche are uncommon without leche flan(caramel custard) and buko salad(coconut fruit salad). Other than your family or parents, they are like cherries on top. Filipinos really love desserts and perhaps the reason why we are naturally sweet and kind people. Sorry, I don't mean to brag.
Cake or Ice Cream? Can I have both, like an ice cream cake? Of course, why not? I'm sure not only Filipinos can fall in love into this new talk of the town dessert. Let's say goodbye to your cronuts because we have a new thing and my cute nephew Shinichi in the picture, is holding it for you. So, get your spoon ready! It's the original gooey Le Sucré Lab Chocolates Dream Cake. If there's a dream island, there should be a dream cake. Thank God it's now available. Believe it or not but the power of word of mouth is very strong, it was my Supervisor who told me about this dream cake shop in my home town Sta. Ana, Manila. At first I didn't know it was nearby. Out of curiosity I right away checked their facebook page and instagram. I was quite hesitant to buy because there were issues with that due to excessive demand. Luckily, it was my birthday month and they had promo for it. I just simply made my reservation on their facebook messenger, went to their shop on my special day and paid cash(PHP 475 or USD 9 per chocolate dream cake). After that, I thought it would be great to jump on the bandwagon and write a blog about Le Sucré Lab, like a short food review to increase my blog traffic. Wish me luck!
I really knew this kind of dessert would trend online and blow up on facebook. It's millennial-friendly, it's beyond the usual chocolate cake and so far, you can't buy it in Goldilocks or Red Ribbon. Simply, it's a dream cake. Why they call it dream cake? Based on LSL Chocolates instagram post, it has five distinctly delicious layers. At the very bottom is a layer of ultra-moist chocolate cake, followed by a fudgy 62% dark chocolate ganache. The ganache is topped with signature "goo"- a creamy, smooth and incredibly light custard. The "goo" is then covered with crisp chocolate and a generous dusting of dark cocoa powder. How's the chocolate dream cake? Honestly, I'm not a super fan of it but on the other hand, it's fairly good because it's not very sweet. It's like Goya Dark Chocolate. You can eat it alone or share it with others.
